Decorating Dilemma

Awhile back, I found a nice leather charging station for a couple of bucks at the Salvation Army.  I knew exactly where I wanted to put it & how I was going to use it.  I've been very, very careful when I go to a thrift store & I have put several things back because I could not think where exactly I would put them or how I would use them.

Leather Charging Station

I needed to get a surge protector so that all of our electronics didn't get zapped, however I had to find one that would be less than 12" long.  It wasn't on my priority list, but last week I remembered
while I was out, to look for one.  Since I had cleaned off the cabinet in the corner of the kitchen, I knew I wanted to put it there:

See where I put it?  On the bottom shelf?  I was all excited. Well... It didn't work out.  The angle of the top of the charging station didn't allow room in the back (the area where you hide the cords) for the surge protector AND the charger plug-ins.  So now I'm in a quandary as to what to put there.  I've looked on Pinterest & I've Googled & I've looked on Amazon & Ebay, nothing jumps out at me at a price I'm willing to pay.  I thought about using the other basket that matches the one on the middle shelf, but it isn't weighted.  I'm afraid it will tip over if the iPad falls/leans to the front of it.

Do any of you have any ideas?  It can't be any bigger than 8" x 12" and it must be able to accommodate (not necessarily all at once) an iPad, iPod/iPhone & 2 cell phones.  More brains are better than one!

Bye!  Love you!  Have a good day, Dear!

  1. Could you drill a hole through the cabinet and mount the surge protector inside the cabinet behind the glass doors? You could mount it to the underside of the shelf so it would be right underneath the leather charging station. It would be less visible. Put stuff in front of it to hide the cords. Then drill a hole through the side of the cabinet and run the plug end to the outlet? Maybe I am just babbling. lol I love the charging station. It is so classy!

  2. It's such a bummer when you find an awesome find like that and it doesn't work out...I wish I could help but nothing is coming to mind at the moment. I am in need of a docking station myself...I have plugs all over the darn house! Good luck!

  3. Why can't someone just invent electronics that don't need cords to charge. They could make a killing. I hate dealing with cords.
